This only applies if your institute has Chats enabled.

Select New chat from the Chats screen to see who you can message: your child's instructor(s) and your institute's admins, listed with their role shown next to their name. Select someone from the list to open a direct conversation, type your message, and send: the same straightforward chat interface as every other role, including attachments and voice messages if your institute allows them.
