Under Settings → Sessions → Credit Settings, three choices control exactly when a session credit leaves a learner's balance:

  • Automatically on Scheduling — the credit is deducted the moment the session is put on the calendar. This is the only mode that prevents someone from scheduling more sessions than they've actually paid for.
  • Automatically at Session time — deducted right after the session's scheduled end time, regardless of whether it happened.
  • Manually — a tutor or admin deducts it themselves via the post-session feedback form (the mode our live 1:1-course test used, 4.1).

Separately, the Calculation Rule decides how much a credit is worth: Session Count (always 1 flat credit per class, regardless of length) or Duration Based (pro-rated by scheduled length).

Example: Worked example (Duration Based): if Credits per hour is set to 1, a 45-minute session deducts 0.75 credits and a 30-minute session deducts 0.5 credits. To make a 30-minute session cost a full 1 credit instead, set Credits per hour to 2 — which then makes a 60-minute session cost 2 credits. The math always runs on the scheduled duration, never the actual time spent on the call.
